Street play on ‘Smoke Free Dimapur’

Morung Express News Dimapur | May 3   The Dimapur District Tobacco Control Team under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) on Wednesday organized street plays at various locations in the town under the theme, “Smoke Free Dimapur.   Enacted by the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, the short play at the premises of DC Office Complex, sought to put across the message on the harmful effects of smoking on the smoker, his surroundings and the society. Through the play, the actors presented a message that smoking in public places such as government offices, eateries, bus stations, parks etc was an offence.   Prior to the enactment of the play, SDO (C), Dimapur, James Swu urged upon the youngsters to be ambassadors of making the society, tobacco free. He urged the audience to not merely watch the play and forget about it but to carry the message of the skit and sensitize people in their areas of influence about the harmful effects of tobacco.   Later, the NTCP, Dimapur team also staged plays at Railway Station and NST Bus Station, Dimapur.
