US IVLP: Indian delegates tackle online abuse and gender violence

A group of five individuals, having diverse backgrounds and experiences, selected from different parts of India, are currently attending an intensive three-week International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in the United States of America. The IVLP is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange programme.

The Visitors are part of the programme on the theme: "Protecting Human Rights: Preventing Online Child Sexual Abuse, Gender Violence and Trafficking (a project for India)." The programme, which started on August 24, will culminate on September 14.

In the first few days, the Visitors have interacted with officials from the White House, Homeland Security, Department of Justice, the State Department, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

From Nagaland, Akangjungla, Director of News and Administration, The Morung Express, was selected to be part of this year's IVLP. The other participants are from Chennai, Hyderabad, and New Delhi.

The IVLP brings together professional and emerging leaders from variety of fields and enable them to experience the country firsthand and build mutual understanding between the US and other nations through communication at the personal and professional levels.

Participants are nominated and selected annually by the US Embassies around the world.
