ZSUN urges proper documentation of children travelling outside state

Peren, September 16 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has urged parents and guardians to ensure proper documentation for children below 18 years of age before sending them to other states for education or other purposes.

In a press statement, the Union said it has observed that many minors are being sent outside Nagaland without the required documents, thereby exposing them to risks and contravening statutory provisions.

Citing Section 37 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, the ZSUN reminded that prior approval and documents must be obtained from the Child Welfare Committee, Peren District, before children under 18 are sent out of the state. The documentation, it stressed, is vital to safeguard the safety, security, and legal protection of children, while also ensuring smooth transitions and minimising potential risks.

The Union cautioned that failure to comply with statutory requirements may invite legal consequences, including penalties under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and other applicable laws. It appealed to all parents and guardians to take the matter seriously and comply with the necessary procedures to avoid complications and repercussions.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and protection of children, the ZSUN assured that it would continue to work with all stakeholders to uphold the safety and security of minors in line with legal provisions.
