Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched the State level Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) at Sati Khongnang, Bengoon, Mayang Imphal West district on Sunday.


Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the essence of doing politics is not a weapon to inject venom to others in the name of religion, caste, creed etc, but to serve the people to improve their lives. "Within such short period, the government has initiated various human oriented mission and people centric schemes for the welfare of the people," he added.


Stating that the government has initiated various schemes for the welfare of the people, the Biren Singh said that the present government is committed to deliver human service to the people. “We need inclusive development so as to bring peace and harmony in the State.” He mentioned that there should be emotional integration among the communities.


He announced that Mobile Diagnostics Service would be launched on February 27, so that people can avail around 76 medical tests at their doorsteps. The results/reports of such test would be given instantly, he added. There are 76 PHCs in the state and each PHC areas would be getting such Mobile Diagnostics Service, adding in future, people don't need to go to hospitals for medical tests. At the first phase, 10 Mobile Diagnostics Service each would be launched in hill and valley districts, he mentioned.


Highlighting that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister said that portable drinking water would be made available to the people by 2022 in the country. In Manipur too, the Prime Minister's Office has recommended the proposal amounting to around Rs 2600 crore for setting up of water supply schemes in the state. The New Development Bank under BRICS would be sanctioning the amount for the construction of such programmes, he added.


Mentioning that various developmental works and welfare schemes are being implemented in the areas predominately resided by minority communities, Chief Minister stated the government is trying to uplift the lives of the people belonging to minority communities. Around 2200 houses would be constructed in the Lilong AC under PMAY. A woman's market is being constructed at an estimated cost of around 4 crore, he added.


Biren then mentioned that around 14 crore farmers would be benefited under the PM-KISAN scheme. Each farmer would be getting Rs 6000 per year. For Manipur, around 10,500 farmers have been enrolled under the scheme. Each farmer received Rs 2000 for the first phase under the scheme, he added.


On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed CHMT and PMJAY cards to around 1900 people, LPG gas connection under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to 300 families, PM-KISAN card to around 1436 farmers, labor cards to 30 people, LED bulbs etc.


Prior to this programme, the Chief Minister inaugurated new building of PHC, Mayang Imphal and Komlakhong Police Out Post. Earlier in the morning, the Chief Minister inaugurated Koirengei Bridge, Imphal which was constructed by PWD at an estimated cost of around 13 crore.
