The Ao Senden Presidential Council has decided to ‘accept’ the resignation letter tendered by four of its office bearers led by the president and has decided to let them vacate their post. This decision was made during the Ao Senden Federal Assembly in Mokokchung on November 14, the Ao local vernacular daily Tir Yimyim reported on Tuesday.
The 4 office bearers, President Imolemba Jamir, General Secretary S Panger Ao, Assistant General Secretary Limasashi and Finance Secretary Alem Longchar, had on November 10 written to the Ao Senden Presidential Council tendering their resignation. Vice President O Shilu Jamir had earlier vacated his seat as well. According to the report, the assembly elected new office bearers including President of the Ongpangkong Mungdang (Range), Angang Jamir and President of Langpangkong Tzükong Mungdang, L Tally Longkumer as interim President and General Secretary respectively. According to sources, they have been entrusted to assume their posts within 7 days.
The Ao Senden Federal Assembly also passed a resolution to recall Naga Hoho President, P Chuba Ozüküm, a representative of the Ao Senden, to vacate his post within 7 days.
The current imbroglio relates to the issue of conferring tribe status to the Rongmei community in Nagaland by the State Government and the subsequent decision of the Ao Senden to disassociate itself from the Naga Hoho.
The interim President and General Secretary is empowered to summon the Presidential Council and Federal Assembly at the earliest and select the other office bearers.
