AR 'Good Samaritan' work continues in Nagaland State

DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Assam Rifles has been donating and assisting people in the state. It has repaired road, constructed schools, donated computers, TVs, furniture etc especially in the rural areas of the state. On February 26, three computers with full accessories were presented to Atoizu Student Union, Atoizu Town, Zunheboto district (Nagaland) by 21 Assam Rifles (AR), as part of DGAR Civic Action Project under the aegis of Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
The 21 AR during the inauguration ceremony of the computers at Atoizu Student Union, Atoizu Town addressed the students and emphasised the importance of computer education in today’s IT environment. The handing over ceremony was attended by various officials of civil administration including students of Atoizu Student Union, Atoizu Town, informed a press note issued by Lt Col RP Velu, PRO, IGAR (N).
The 21 AR assured students for further help and added that the youths should come forward and extend co-operation. The students of were also encouraged to maintain a strong bond with the AR.
Also the 6 AR donated 12 numbers of Sintex tank of 1000 ltr capacity each with a facility to draw water from an existing natural water source at New Phuktong Village, Mon district. It was inaugurated on 26 February. The AR in a press note stated that the project was executed by 6 AR, as part of Army MCA Proj (Op Samaritan) under the aegis of Headquarter 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
There is no provision of water storage at New Phuktong village and thus there is scarcity of water during summer season. Sintex Tank for storage of water will immensely benefit the people and solve their long-standing water problem. A large no of population of the adjoining areas will also be benefited from this project.  6 AR assured villagers for further help and added that the people should come forward and extend co-operation. The people of New Phuktong Village were also encouraged to maintain a strong bond with the Assam Rifles.
Moreover, the school library of Government High School Sechu Zubza was inaugurated by Maj Prithvi, CO, 20 AR Sechu Zubza on February 24 last. The library was donated by 20 AR Medziphema under the Military Civic Action Project. The library includes 89 books of different subjects, five steel almirahs, three steel racks, two flannel boards, three reading tables and 25 plastic chairs.
Maj. Prithvi in his speech called upon the students to dedicate more in their studies and also stressed on the importance of library and to make proper use of the library. Sechu GB Sachu also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the 20 AR for providing school library to the school and also for connecting drinking water facility to Sechu Zubza town.
The function concluded with vote of thanks by Ernest Zeliang, headmaster GHS Sechu Zubza. He thanked all ranks of 20 AR Rifles for making the school proud for possessing library facility which many school do not possessed and also urged upon the teachers and students to make the best use of the library.
Continuing with the Good Samaritan work, The 7 AR under aegis of HQ 5 Sect AR, IGAR (N) as a part of AR Military Civic Action Project, provided musical instruments to Bible Hill village Council, Phek  on February 28. The  Commandant 7 AR Rifles thanked the people of Bible Hill village, Phek for their support towards the unit. He also highlighted various civic action projects being undertaken by the unit in the area for benefit of the people and reiterated the commitment of AR  to its Motto “Friends of the Hill People”.  The villagers expressed their heartful gratitude to the AR for providing musical instruments to the village council and assured full cooperation and support from their side.
The note also added that the 41 AR of Headquarter 5 Sector AR under the aegis of IGAR (N) donated three computers with accessories to the Catholic Church Community, Lakhuti village, Wokha district as part of Civic Action Project. The computers were donated on February 28 in a ceremony organized at the Catholic Church. The church community expressed gratitude to AR  for providing computers to the school.
Also, the  7 AR under aegis of HQ 5 Sector AR donated three Computers with accessories to the Chakhesang Student Union of Phek village on February 28. The Commandant 7 AR exhorted the students to draw maximum benefit out of the facility provided and expressed hope that it would surely help them shape their careers towards a prosperous and better tomorrow.
Further, the note stated that the 24 AR under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) and Headquarters 5 Sector AR  donated hostel materials for the students of St. Peter’s school, Model colony, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur The inauguration was done on February 28.
