IRCS marks National Voluntary Blood Donors Day with call for more donors

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch, marked National Voluntary Blood Donors Day on October 1 with an appeal for more people to step forward and donate blood, highlighting the critical need for blood to save lives across the state.

In a statement issued for the occasion, the IRCS stressed the importance of maintaining a steady supply of safe blood to support patients recovering from surgeries, traumatic injuries, and serious illnesses. “A single blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives, and the demand for blood in hospitals remains constant,” said the society.

The IRCS Nagaland also pointed out that, over the years, voluntary blood donors have played an essential role in ensuring the availability of blood during emergencies and disasters. These donors have helped the state branch successfully organize numerous blood donation drives, providing a lifeline in times of need.

As the need for blood continues to rise, the organization urged more people to take part in this life-saving initiative. “Donating blood is a simple yet powerful way to give back to the community and make a tangible difference,” the statement emphasized, adding that new donors are always welcome.

The IRCS Nagaland, called for a collective effort to keep blood banks supplied and ensure that no one suffers due to a lack of available blood. “Every donor has the potential to save lives, and we encourage more people to join this crucial cause,” she said.

The IRCS concluded its message by inviting the public to participate in future blood donation drives, underscoring the ongoing need for community involvement to meet the growing demand for blood across the state.
