The Household Waste Segregation Campaign in commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Lhisemia Students' Union (LSU) kick started at L Khel, Kohima Village on January 14.
The main objective of the campaign is to sensitise every household in Lhisemia khel jurisdiction on importance of waste segregation from the household level and making sure the segregated wastes are transported to the designated treatment plant. The main intention is to avoid dumping, burning and accumulation of all biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes together.
Lhisemia council members, Lhisemia Youth organization office bearers, LSU 75th anniversary organising committee members, LSU executives and about 100 students took part in the campaign under the theme “With one mind... towards a healthier environment.”
On behalf of the Khel denizens, the Lhisemia Council chairman Ayie Yhome flagged off the campaign. The participants also took a pledge to make L Khel a 'waste-segregated area' and resolved to abide with the adopted Action plan.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Khriesazo Liezietsu, co- convenor organizing committee while organizing committee member Vitsu Yhome shared the concept of the campaign.
