Mokokchung, October 3 (MExN): The Mokokchung Forest Division kick started the National Wildlife Week (October 2 to 8) with the Soul House Academy at Forest Office Complex, Marepkong. The School led by their principal Arenla Lemtur along with teaching faculty and students from Grade 3 to 6 visited the Forest Complex to learn and experience the various initiative undertaken by Forest for conservation of Flora and Fauna, stated a press release received here.

Mokokchung Range Officer, I Sashilemla, RFO shared that National Wildlife Week is annually observed across India to spread the awareness of the importance of wildlife and its conservation in India. She encouraged the students by saying that the next exemplary conservation efforts should be brought from within themselves and urged the students to always care and connect with nature.
Along the theme of this year, ‘wildlife conservation through coexistence’, Mokokchung Forest Division focused on ‘Listening to the Voices of our Future Generation’. The day was marked with a walk around forest park to enable the children to explore, observe and connect with nature.

A video on various themes of wildlife conservation was also presented. A quiz was also held on basics of wildlife.
Thereafter, virtual reality experience was shown to the children. This is a new feature equipped in the awareness centre of the Forest Division, intended to let people, especially children to widen their knowledge base on technology and to excite their learning experiences.

Sendongmeren of Grade-III said, “We should save environment, we should not cut trees but save them and plant more trees.
Sentinungla of Grade-IV said that she learnt about different plants and animals in Nagaland. They participated in letting the department know about their expectations and hope and how they perceive the world to create awareness among the students on wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
