The two-day free distribution of Washable Menstrual Kits, organised by Emerging North East Eco Forum (ENEEF) on behalf of Shashikiran Charitable Trust, New Delhi and Mooncatcher, USA, was conducted on September 29 and 30 at Niuland and Chümoukedima districts of Nagaland. On September 29, kits were handed over to Advisor, KT Sukhalu, Food & Civil Supplies and MLA Phongsing Phom. The ENEEF Team comprising of Satyajit Aribam, Founder, Vickram Maitei, Co-Founder and Sentila Yanger, on September 30 visited and distributed the free Washable Menstrual Kits to girl students at United Village Government High School, Niuland and Diphupar Government H Sec. School Chümoukedima. The Team also visited Polan John, Deputy Commissioner, Chümoukedima and handed him the Washable Kits for free distribution to marginalized girl students in the district government schools.
Local farmers of Medziphema village recently participated in a farmers-scientist interaction programme, organised by NEH Component of onion and garlic, and vegetable crops, Nagaland Centre, School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University on September 30. The interaction was focused mainly on creating awareness among tribal farmers on the importance of growing onion and garlic in kitchen garden and encouraging them to adopt kitchen gardening and some new technologies recommended by ICAR-DOGR, Pune & NEH Component of Onion and Garlic, Nagaland centre for uplifting their livelihood. Falcon Garden tool kit consisting of hand rake, hand cultivator, khurpi, shovel etc., other agri-inputs like Nalpak, Nisarga, Safe Root (Tricoderma Harzianum) and rabi onion seeds were distributed. The Integrated Ayush Hospital (IAH), Government of Nagaland, Razha, Chedema under Kohima district organised free medical camp in Kidima village on September 30. Patients turned up in large number till evening. The different departments including ENT attended and served the villagers to all age groups. The physicians were also accessed to house to house whoever could not able to reach the arena. Free registration, check up and medicine distribution to all the patients. The medical camp was arranged with a mutual contact of the health service authority by Reverend Father Alex Vizo, Parish Priest of Kidima. Kidima Village Council support and assisted by Kidima Students’ Union for the camp. The 2nd NAP Bn Alichen Family Welfare organised a programme on ‘multi skill and self-sustenance’ at the unit Darbar hall for the unit personals, especially for the wife of the jawans on September 27. The workshop started with a short formal programme where highlights of the event were briefed by executive member of the Family Welfare Committee. A total of seven counters was laid where hands on practical was imparted to the participants on tailoring and cutting, hair and skin care, baking, manure making, floriculture, culinary and bamboo handicrafts. The Community Health Centre (CHC) Bhandari, in collaboration with Assam Rifles held a health camp at Ruchan village under the initiative of Aspirational Villages of Yamnhon area on September 28. Senior Medical Officer, Bhandari, Dr Caroline T who along with the Assam Rifles, led a team of doctors and health workers treated and provided health care services and medicines to more than one hundred persons from the aspirational villages’ areas. Laboratory blood tests, Screening for non-communicable diseases and oral health screening were also done for 95 persons all free of cost. Ayushman Pakwada was also held in which awareness talks on CMHIS as well as CMHIS card generation for beneficiaries were carried out. (DIPR Photo) Gorkha Baptist Church Thahekhu hosted a combined youth fellowship under the theme “Together in Purpose” (Philippians 2:2) on September 29. The programme commenced with praise worship led by Nepali Baptist Church Walford. Atula Limbu, Counsellor at Sub Jail Dimapur, delivered a message, inspiring youths to work hard, pursue their dreams, and trust in God’s plans. The event showcased cultural gospel dance performances by Nepali Baptist Church Walford, songs by Nepali Baptist Church Kuda Village; Gorkha Baptist Church Viola Colony; Gorkha Baptist Church Thahekhu; and Dimapur Town Nepali Baptist Church Duncan. The District Task Force on Immunization meeting was held at DCs Chamber on September 30. Dr Imtijungshi DPO (RCH/UIP) in his keynote address highlighted about the importance of Routine Immunization and ongoing MR Elimination Campaign in the District and briefed about the ongoing RI head count survey activity in the District which will be completed by 3rd week of October 2024. Deputy Commissioner, Longleng W Manpai encouraged the involvement of all non- health departments to ensure their support for improving RI coverage as they should be responsible and should play a vital role to dessiminate information about Immunization and assured full support from the administration side. The meeting was conducted under the Chairmanship of DC W Manpai Phom and was attended by SDO(C) , EAC, Sr. SDEO, CDPO, PPC, Hoichemla ,PSC and CMO Staff. The All Nagaland College Student’ Union (ANCSU) held its 1st Presidential Meeting on October 2 at ANCSU Office, Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima. The meeting was chaired by Tenyesinlo Bukh, President ANCSU, with the presence of 29 colleges along with the seniors of ANCSU. The agenda discuss during the meeting were for the forth coming ANCSU Collegiate Meet 2024 and some other issue confronting the students’ community.
