One person was shot dead in Dimapur on August 16. The deceased identified by the police as one Major Toishe of the NSCN (IM) was shot by unidentified assailants at his residence in Unity colony, Purana Bazaar (B). As per the police, the incident occurred around 7:30pm. Citing preliminary report, the police said that the victim was shot in point blank range by two masked men in his residential compound. He sustained two fatal shots in the head and body. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. “All possible angles are being explored,” said the police queried on the probable motive behind the shooting. A case has been registered at the East Police Station and investigation was on.
