Youth exchange prog between Nagaland & Meghalaya ends

The youth exchange- cum-exposure programme between Nagaland and Meghalaya under the banner “Bridging borders, sharing cultures and building friendship” concluded today at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Chubarenla Longchari, DYRO, expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the youth exchange cum exposure program with Meghalaya, which brought the young minds together for a fruitful exchange of ideas, experiences, and cultures.

“One of the key importances of youth exchange and exposure programs is the promotion of cross-cultural understanding,” Longchari said.
In a world that is increasingly interconnected, it is essential for young people to have a deep appreciation and understanding of different cultures, languages, and ways of life, she said.

By participating in exchange programs, youth can develop empathy, tolerance, and appreciation for diversity, which are essential qualities in today's globalized world.

“As the host state, Nagaland has had the honor of welcoming the vibrant youth delegation from Meghalaya with open arms, embracing the spirit of unity and collaboration that defines the essence of such programs,” she said adding that the exchange programme witnessed the power of youth coming together, breaking barriers, and building bridges of friendship and understanding.

“This youth exchange program has not only been a platform for cultural exchange but also a learning experience that has sparked creativity, innovation, and personal growth among our young participants, she said.

As they interacted with their peers, they have gained new insights, broadened their horizons, and forged lasting bonds that will undoubtedly shape their futures in a positive and meaningful way.

‘Call for more united, more prosperous tomorrow’

“Our experience with the youth from Meghalaya has been nothing short of extraordinary. Their unique traditions, vibrant culture, their beautiful songs and melodies, and warmth have left an indelible mark on all of us,” Longchari said.

Stating that there are immense potential that lies within the youth, she said “By providing them with platforms such as this youth exchange program, we are empowering them to realize their full potential, to rise above differences, and to work towards a common goal of building a more inclusive, harmonious, and prosperous society.”

Meanwhile, she thanked Government of Meghalaya and all the representatives from the guest state for their active participation, collaboration, and friendship throughout this program.

“Our shared experiences and memories will serve as a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two states,” she added.

She also urged the participants to carry forward the spirit of this youth exchange program in their hearts and minds, to continue building bridges, breaking barriers, and striving for excellence in everything they do.

“You are the future of our nations, and it is through your collective efforts and aspirations that we can create a brighter, more united, and more prosperous tomorrow,” she said.

Sharing experience, Andronikos Ryngkhlém from Meghalaya maintained that youth exchange programme has facilitated personal growth, promote cultural understanding and foster meaningful connections with individuals from various backgrounds.

“We should improve our culture and love each other as brother and sister,” he added.

The closing ceremony was chaired by Narorenla, DYRO while vote of thanks was proposed by Jakedovo Chase, Deputy Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland.

Mentionably, this youth exchange programme, hosted by the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Nagaland, featured cultural exchange, interactions, visit to Puliebadze, State Museum, Kohima War Cemetery, Raj Bhavan among the others.
