Do you have faith in the Nagaland judicial system?

Some of those who voted Yes had this to say:
•    Nagaland is a state of Christian and the follower of Christ dislike sin. I do have full faith in it. God Bless Nagaland Judicial system.
•    When it has come to criminal offense, the judiciary is yet to make a mark, but in the other areas, it is growing. We must give it time to grow.
•    There has been no activity of the Naga judicial system which is laudable or which has made the Naga psychic think differently of the system. Yet thousands of Nagas have joined the law profession. There is no doubt the system is faulty. But we have to understand here that they work under very trying situations and they have continued to work in spite of threats. Some of the lawyers have done a remarkable job and are now recognized by their peers. But the system as a whole no doubt needs change. In spite of the weaknesses and much needed changes, I still say that I have faith in those lawyers that really value the profession of law.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
•    With no hard feelings to our Naga comrades in judicial system, the answer is a BIG NO. The system is handcuffed by so many factors that the law becomes a flexible entity. The law can be twisted and turned into anybody’s favor if they have the connections or the coffers of these lawyers are stuffed with GANDHIJI NOTES. No issues or cases have been rightly judged and the wrong people always get through their way where as the hapless but the sufferer had to just admit to the whims of his tormentors.
•    What has the judicial system done for me to have faith in them? There has not even been one significant decision on the part of the judiciary. Even recently when they had the opportunity to do justice, they humiliated the justice system by granting bail to people accused of raping minors.
•    The systems is ok, but people are corrupt and without moral
•    Why should? Once a criminal was booked I heard a judiciary official saying he’s got a means of windfall, a police a source of bribe and a lawyer a new better client. This is the practice. Judicial system in Nagaland is just a farce.
•    Is there even one?? Law has always been taken by the rich, mightier person..always had and sadly may continue...
•    Because of the fact that, judicial system is over powered by big shots politicians and undergrounds not to forget the outdated customary law of the different tribes. Justice for the common man is a far cry.
•    What judicial system. Jus have a look at the courts here and how they function? Mockery of the judicial system
•    Until executive and judiciary are separated we cannot we cannot trust Nagaland judicial system.
•    There are too many Nagas who have done law, and there is not enough jobs for all of them because law as a profession is still in the formative stages in Nagaland. Most of the people are ignorant of the legal system in Nagaland and the public depends on the lawyers for sound advice. But very often we see that some of the lawyers they misguide their clients and prolong cases, so that their fees are increased. This is happening rampantly by few lawyers and bringing a bad name to all. So how can we have faith in the Nagaland judicial system?
•    With the recent events of the rape convicts being bailed out the very day they were caught, the judicial system becomes just a routine procedure only. How do these people and the people law keepers get through their way even after knowing that the wrongdoings committed deserves punishment. The whole system has become a joke and has the Govt has become a mockery of sorts.
•    Very disorganized and merits is not in matter of appointment but its all about how well they are connected! It’s just pathetic!
•    It is not an independent entity but is just a shadow of some other entity!
•    Its time to judge the integrity of the judges. justice are tempered with biasness
•    There is an absence of fundamentalism
•    The customary laws of the yore days are better than the judicial system in Nagaland. Atleast the truth had prevailed in those times.
•    The law and order of a state is regulated by the people holding the powers to manipulate and scrutinize the cases in the court. No matter the limit of crime, the end result is that money wins over. The lawkeepers should not handle the cases when they really want money and not the truth.
•    I believe all the Nagas will agree with me that the whole system is headed by some personal vested groups. Why has there been all these hulla-bulla but the end result is the same. We dont get any concrete solution. Anything is possible in Nagaland as they say.
•    If the judicial system was just-right, I believe there wouldn’t be any doubts on people's mind as to whom to turn to in times of legal advise. But people are scared to go to the court as they know a "White" can be proved BLACK! Thanks to our beloved money mongered law enforcers.

Some of those who voted Others had this to say:
•    Nagaland judicial system is yet to be fully independent. While on paper the judiciary in Nagaland is supposed to be independent, in actual it is far from independent. How do you trust a judiciary that is not independent from political and public influences?  But anyway, I am still willing to give the judiciary a chance to prove itself before I make a final decision on whether I can have faith in it.
•    To me there are honest Naga people. But I also doubt and believe that "every one pays attention when money talks" and most people are susceptible to fall into such trap.
•    The judicial system that we have is not based on Naga laws. It is based on Indian constitution. Even the Naga customary laws are not codified, so we have all different tribes, villages and clan applying their own customary law which varies from one another. So right now, the judicial system that we talk about is like scrambled eggs all mashed up. This is to the benefit of those who have abused and broken the law, while the common man suffers like nobody’s business. So obviously one cannot trust the judicial system, but maybe we should start with, do Nagas even have a judicial system. The answer is No.
•    The Naga judicial system is still not independent and so its difficult to judge whether an independent judiciary will be more effective. At the moment, the Nagaland judiciary cannot be trusted to deliver justice and that is why so many cases are being tried by customary law. But this is also creating problems, because every village has its own customary law. This in turn has weakened the effectiveness of the legal system. What we need is a really independent legal system. I wish the government would just allow a free and independent judiciary to flourish in Nagaland.
