Time to Part: Colleges in Nagaland bid adieu to final year students

Dimapur, May 3(MExN): It is the time of the year when colleges in Nagaland to bid adieu to their final year students, by holding ‘parting socials’ or other related events. Several such events were held in the recent past in colleges across Nagaland. 

Kohima Science College (Autonomous): The KSC, Jotsoma held its 59th Parting Social on April 30 with with Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland and Associate Vice President, Athletics Federation of India, Abu Metha as the guest speaker.
Terming the KSC as an iconic institution, he told to students to live up the college’s motto ‘Omnia Vincit Labor' (Labour Overcomes Everything) and added that success cannot escape them if they work hard. 
With around 600 students graduating this year, Metha encouraged the students saying that if each one can change ten lives and those ten lives change another ten lives and so on, in about five generations time,  they can change the lives of about 60 million people, equivalent to the present population of France. 
He also exhorted the students to have the confidence and bravery to make a mark, a DIPR report informed. 
With advances in information technology coupled with the favourable conditions of studying in an iconic institution, place as well as the advantages of living in the ‘Asian Century,’ he urged the students to ‘go and change lives,’ the report added.
On the occasion, the KSC also felicitated students who excelled in various competitions and extra-curricular activities held at the State and national levels.

KROS College: Under the theme, "Vintage" the KROS College, Kohima held its annual social parting programme on April 30 for the 2019-2022 Batch with the president of Naga Students Federation (NSF), Kegwayhun Tep as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Tep called upon the outgoing students to be focused, consistent and to have a life blueprint in order to have a directed future for themselves.   
Speeches were also delivered by Senchumthung Patton on behalf of the 6th semester and Thangchulo Semy, President, KCSU, State DIPR informed. 
Other highlights of the programme included release of the 5th edition of the college annual magazine "Minerva" by the KROS Education Society Chairman, Kevisiezolie Suohu and special songs by the 2nd and 4th semester students.

Sazolie College: The Sazolie College held its 13th Parting Social on April 30, where the Dr Gomesh Mosaharry, Principal, Sazolie College of Teachers Education (SCTE) spoke on the importance of mental, spiritual and physical well-being and how these factors are vital to a healthy and successful life.
At the event, ‘The Student of the Year 2022’ award was conferred on Marükho Pfozhe, a 6th semester student of the English Department.
Carrying a cash prize of Rs 5000 and a certificate, the awardee is selected annually from 6th semester students by the Academic Committee of the college based on academic and co-curricular activities.
As per a release from the college, the event featured speech on behalf of the juniors by Boingam Y Konyak while Marükho Pfozhe spoke for the seniors. 
Besides, special songs as well as entertainment segment after the formal event, it concluded with lunch for all.

St John College Dimapur: The management and the juniors of St John College (SJC), Dimapur organised the valedictory programme for the outgoing batch of 2019-2022 on April 30.
The college principal, Prof ST Janetius and the administrative head, Peter Banks graced the occasion. 
The programme was marked by special numbers by the students and faculty, dance performances by the juniors, informed a press release. 
Speeches were also given by the principal, the general secretary of the student council, along with a farewell speech on behalf of the outgoing students.
It also featured ceremonious handing out of certificates for various achievements, like student of the year, best attendance and best library use by both faculty and students. 
The college bade adieu to the seniors by gifting each outgoing student a memorable token and thereafter lunch was served with a photo session to conclude the event, the release added.
